Nose cones are used as an extension of a trap to guide animals directly from an exit/entry hole into the trap. They can be placed over entry holes in the ground, alongside entry holes in buildings, and pretty much any den opening being used by an animal.
Bait and set your trap, then slide a nose cone over the open trap door. Be sure to provide enough space to allow the door to close freely, usually an inch or two beyond the open door.
